It appears she is being well taken care of though like all of the museum ships she probably needs drydocking and inspection. She lost men to both enemy action and friendly fire. When she first engaged in combat, escorting USS Enterprise off Guadalcanal she proved to be death incarnate to the attacking Japanese airmen, her AA seeming to 'explode like a volcano' according to one description from a man serving in Enterprise. I tip my hat to the men who served and died in her.Įven though she never got the opportunity to meet another BB in a fight I think she and her men would have aquitted themselves well. I'm a sailor of the 1980s - 1990s and to me she is incredible. If you get the chance I highly recommend visiting this lady. as far as "fun" (aka yolo) is concerned, I think I've had more of that in the Bismarck with its secondary build lol. When it comes to winning, that's the one I trust. Still bow-tanks like a champ even now through all the changes and the guns are still just as good. Mostly because it is such a nice change to the tech tree from 7 and below. Anyway, Been planning to take a trip to see the Texas but next time I get the chance I'll have to go see it.Īs for the ship in-game, I have to say, out of all of the other tier 8's it's probably one of the most memorable. Back when I was a kid, I got to see the USS Drum and USS Alabama you know, when they actually let kids play on the AA guns and spin them around (heard somewhere that someone ruined that for everyone though. Would have loved to have stopped and walked around. Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had known it was there when I went to North Carolina some time ago.
